January Subway Art

I just love the many talented gals
That have shown their Subway Art
on various Blogs.
I have wanted to make one
But, just didn't know quite how to do it.
But, I finally tackled the job and
This is what I come up with.

Karie's Chic Creations
January
Subway Art
I picked words that I thought went with the month of
 January
You'll notice I have Happy Birthday on my sign
Well, that is because I have so many
 January Birthday's
I have all of our names
And the date of our January Birthday
I do have a Cricut but I don't have a lot of fonts to chose from.
So, I just used Microsoft fonts
And various sizes.
Mod Podged the word strips on to a 12x12 inch paper
Then Mod Podged the whole page.
Then framed it.
There are a few things I will do different when I make a
 February
Subway Sign. . .
I am pleased with this project
Can't wait to make more. . . . . . .

Spur of The Moment Shopping

Oh, goodness, I woke up this morning feeling
A  little down in the Dumps!
The old January Dump hit me. . .
Does that ever happen to you?
Well, I decided this girl needed to get out
And
Shop!
I know, I know, you would think after all that
Christmas shopping I would have had enough. .
But, I tell ya,
It makes me feel better to shop!
So what if I live off of Ramen Noodles the rest of the month.
So I headed to the city
That is Salt Lake City
I was looking for bargains and sales, of course

These pretty place- mats were on sale for only $1.50
And the white bird on the sphere was $2.00
Oh, but look at those darling snowmen
Ya, they are
Fitz and Floyd!
 Oh, my gosh 50% off!
They are so dang cute!
I love them and I had to have them.
After looking at their little expressions my spirits were lifted!
 Well after that deal
I could have gone home,
But, I just had to go to the Craft Store. . . .!
 Anything with my initial "K"
I am a sucker for. . .
And the $1 bins at Michael's are just too tempting. . .
Isn't my initial cute though?
Of course, I always need ribbon. .
I only have umpteen boxes of it
And that cute black clothespin I need that
The ribbon was only $1
And the clothespin was only $2
Note cards and magnets are always a must!
And there was a good deal on Valentine Paper
Oh, I need that. . .
So, I came home and I felt much better.
The Dumps are gone for now. .
Oh, they will be back. . . . I am sure.
Everything was on Sale
And I needed wanted everything I bought.

January Shelfscape

January is here
And it is time for a new look
Around the house.

I have been lazy slow to take my Christmas decorations down.
There were other things I was more interested in.
But it is done!
Now it is time to move on. . . .

First thing is to re-decorate the shelf in the living room.
I love decorating my black shelf. . .
I don't have a mantel, instead I have my black shelf
I still wanted a wintry scene
So I used the pine candle rings. . .
My JANUARY embroidery lets you know what month it is. . .
I have done all the months
So I am sure you will see the different months.
Oh, these little winter birds are so cute!
They are the ones I got for 80 cents
At a After-Christmas sale.
 January
Is a special month for me
My birthday is in January
Also, my brother,
My son
And three grandchildren . . . .
So now it is on to other parts of the house
To Re-Decorate
Don't ya just love January?
Oh, by the way, I heard that if you are born in
January
You are like the little Penguins.
We survived the coldest time of the year!
January babies are Penguins!

I Just Want To Be Like The Others

I wonder sometimes what on this earth
I am doing in Bloggerville!
Really, I am so insecure about my blog posts!
(Don't get me wrong I love blogging)
I started
In July 2010

But I tell ya, I wonder sometimes what on this
earth I am doing. . .
My picture taking has a lot to be desired. .
(Something I have to work on)
My ideas are not original. . .
(I usually copy something or someone)
I recently started to do Table-setting. . . (Tablescapes)
Oh, let me tell you
I have a long ways to go!
I have always loved pretty plates and dishes. . .
But I hang them on the wall. . . !

I love plates!
I even hang them up high, close to the ceiling . .
I really do like to hang plates!
This is more like the "crystal" I use!
I just want to do tablescapes like some the blogs I follow
sigh, cry, tears
Look at this beautiful Christmas Tablescape created by
(Dare I say we used paper plates a different kind of plate?)

Does gorgeous Tablescapes. . .
Every Thursday she hosts
Oh My Goodness, there are some incredible
Well, I tell you, I am not giving up!
No sir, Not Me!
I will keep working on the picture taking
And I will continue to copy admire others. . .(how else do I learn?)
And I will continue to look for nice dishes I don't hang on the walls.
Hopefully my tablescapes will come close to looking
At least half way decent. . .

Clearance Sales

Oh, I did take time to check out
The After Christmas Sales.
I wasn't going to, because I have so much "stuff"
But, alas, I just couldn't stay away. .
And of course I found a few things!
Wal-Mart had their things 50% off
I found these plate chargers.
The cute candles with the ceramic shades
And 18 feet of pre-lite garland. . .
These candles will be cute as gifts.
Then I went to "Real Deals"
I just couldn't resist these adorable birds.
80 cents apiece.
I can decorate with them for a couple of months. . .
I could not resist this darling Nativity Set
Regularly $21. on sale for $3.00
Ya, I said $3.00
How could I pass that up?
In the background is a package of "natural" decorative balls.
Six for $1.25!
This is a candle ring. . .  I had bought one earlier in the month
(paid full price)
Today it was $1.25
The little figures for the Nativity Set are so cute.
The expressions on their faces are so dang cute!
My Grandkids will love this Nativity. . . .
And this artificial tree will look nice on my porch
It was $3.00
I think I did pretty good. . .  I spent $13.00 and some change.
I love buying things on sale!
Now I look forward to January Sales . . . .

Enjoying Christmas Week

I am enjoying this week between
Christmas and New Years so much. .
I don't want to take down my decorations just yet.
I have enjoyed my home so much
During the Holidays.
At night I love the glow of the Christmas Tree.
I am one of those persons who cries the day I take the tree down!
Ya, I do, and I am glad to say that I do.
My beautiful Poinsettia should last for a couple of months.
Oh, it is gorgeous.
And I love my decorated side-board and table
My brother and sister-in-law were here to visit
During the holidays.
Oh, how I love him and miss him. . .
My sweet niece was here also with her daughter.
I enjoyed dinner together with all of my family.
Of, course we had a visit to Temple Square
To see the beautiful Christmas lights and Nativities.
It was a cold, cold night but we loved it.
Being together warmed us all!
 My Three Sons.
How blessed I am!
 Joseph, Mary and The Babe
On a crystal clear pool.
The beautiful Salt Lake Temple
In the background
20 of us at dinner after seeing the lights.
I think I have had one of the best Christmas Holidays. . .
For so many years I have been sad during this time.
But this year my Heart was full and
I feel so Blessed. . .
