Vintage Christmas

Well, things have not gone as planned.
I am sure that happens to others also.

I have hoped for a slower more calm December.
I wanted to enjoy the feeling and spirit of
the season. . .But
Sometimes I wish for the Christmas of
my past. . .

Maybe that is why I like old vintage images
of Christmas's past. . .

I don't remember being so stressed and busy even
as a young wife and mother.
Christmas and life in general was a little
slower and low keyed.

I honestly don't know when it kicked into high gear.

But there is one thing I do know,

I am going to slow down a little. .

After I get all my projects done!

Gathering ~ November ~ Blessings

Well, just look who come in on the scene!
Our very own

I like this month. . . it is a reflective month for me.
Filled with many good memories.
It is the Gateway to the Christmas Holidays
and it is a time I count my blessings
One by One.

November  can still be adorned in the beauties of
Autumn, but oh it can change in just a few hours.
And it can be the beginning of
The Winter Season.

I linger as long as I can with the pretty decorations of Autumn
in my home.  I love the Christmas Season, but oh how I love
November, and the cozy feeling of home.

No changing to Christmas decorations for me,
Not until Thanksgiving is over, and then let
it all begin.  But for now I will enjoy
and savor the
Beautiful serene month of
N O V E M B E R

When all the crops are gathered in.
When the fields, orchards
and gardens are put to rest. . .

The Harvest is complete.
Our homes, our family, and our friends
are all very blessed.

N O V E M B E R
the month of
GATHERING
We will all GATHER together to
Celebrate how BLESSED we are.

I love
November!

The Postman Does Ring Twice

Hello my friends,  I am so excited today.
I found my little Postman a few days
ago and I can show him to you.

He is a little Hummel Postman.
Oh, how long I have waited for him.
More than 50 years have passed.
He isn't the one I wanted and was promised,
but I am ok and I am happy.

My sweet Aunt Carol lived in Germany in the early 1960's
When she came home she brought my Grandma the
Hummel Postman.
It meant a lot to my Grandma.  Aunt Carol brought everyone
a Hummel, but not me.  She always told me that
when she died I could have the Hummel Postman
that she had given my Grandma. . .
Well the years past, Aunt Carol died a few years ago.
But I never got the Hummel she had promised me.
So I went on the search. . .and I found him.
He has belonged to someone else for all these years,
Now he is mine.
My Aunt didn't need to give me any of her possessions.
I have the most beautiful memories of the time I spent with her.
Nothing can take the place of time and memories.

I hope you are enjoying the last few days of October.

Filler and Other Things

Hello my friends, I have been doing some thinking. . I know that is a scary thought. . . .I been giving some thought to Fillers.  Yes, I said Fillers.  I like fillers. . .I fill little bowls, plates, jars, cups. etc.

With things to fill the empty space.  Right now I have a lot of fillers in various containers sitting around my house.  It is Autumn time, and I like the dried, woodsy fillers.

Tall jars, small jars, dishes, whatever it may be will most likely have some sort of filler in it.

I like the fillers. . .They are eye appealing to me.
I have noticed around my house I have containers that are filled.
With something.

So this is where I got thinking. . .!
What do I fill my life with?  I have empty spaces in my life and even in
my heart and my soul.  What do I fill those places with.
I believe we all have little nooks and crannies and jars and vases
that we try to fill. . .But with what do we fill them with.

So I took a look at my own life and surveyed my nooks and crannies of my heart and soul
What do I fill my empty places with?  It is an on going process for me.
I certainly have some things I have filled my emptiness with and I need to replace
the filler with something new and fresh.  I have fillers that I will never replace because
they give me peace and comfort and joy and love.
Family, my children and grandchildren.
Friends, Church, and my personal relationship with
my Savior Jesus Christ.
No never will I replace them. . .
But there are a few empty jars and spaces in my life
I need to fill with good things. . .I need to spend more time
focused on fillers that give me happiness and I am
filled with joy and light.

These two little fur babies of mine also fill my life with happiness
They fill my empty house with life and joy.
I am never alone because I have them.

How about you, what are your fillers?
Do you need to refresh some, and get rid of the old
and bring in new fillers. . .
Just something to think about.

The delight of Randomness!  Just here just there.  What ever catches my visual fancy.  I like Randomness!

often amusing or fun.
Without definite aim or purpose or reason.

Have a beautiful Random day.

Late October Decorating

Not much to shout about!  Just a little late October decorating.  I sure have slowed down on my seasonal/holiday decorating.  I don't know what it is but I always think "what goes up must come down."
I have so much holiday decorations stored in containers.  I doubt I will ever use again.  Hey, I am getting older and the appeal of changed things out every month or so wears me out.  Oh, I will do some, but not like I once did.  That stage of my life is pretty much over.

But here is what I have done for now.

The front porch got a few little mum plants.
I like the October late afternoon shadow.

Little Teddy has a lot to do guarding the neighborhood.
A small display on the coffee table.

A small display on one of the end tables.
Do you have spots that no one ever sees?
But I still decorate it.  I doubt I am the only
one that notices.  I figure that is ok
it is my house and I enjoy it.

Another display on a end table people seldom see,
But I do and I like it.
The picture is of my Grandma Dot.

My The Beauty of the
Aunt Carol Hutch
............

She is the reason I decorate in my kitchen area
I love this hutch.  Every day she reminds me
of my dear Aunt Carol who loved me
And I loved her dearly.
I miss her a lot.

No matter the season, she is beautiful.
I would love her even if I didn't decorate.
The maple wood is so gorgeous.
Not a scratch on her!

My kitchen is small, and it is hard to get a full view
of the Aunt Carol Hutch.
But, you can see she is outstanding.

A few weeks ago I was finishing up the decorating.
I was on a high ladder getting the dusting and cleaning done.
When I went down from the ladder I missed the last step. .
Well, my balance is not that great, I fell.
I already have a leg and hip that is injured.
This time I sprained my foot,
and hurt my leg and hip.
My children were up set with me that I was on a ladder.
But, like I told them.. . .I am use to doing things
myself.  When dusting or cleaning needs to be
done I do it.  I am not going to stop and call one of
them to come "right now" to clean and dust.
It just won't happen,  so I have got to pay more
attention to what I am doing when being on a ladder.
For me it is hard growing older.  I am a "doer." I always
have been.  Now as I am aging I can't "do" like I
once did.  I am slower, and I have to be careful.
What a life!
Now don't get me wrong. . .I love life. . .I just don't
like some of my limitations right now.  And the
truth is limitations will increase and not decrease.

I have to remember there are blessings to
every stage of life.

Have a wonderful day!

Really Is It OCTOBER?

Is it possible? Is it real?
OCTOBER!
You are here, and I am so happy!
I love October. . for many reasons.
And one of those reasons, is
HOME!

I love my home anytime. . but October seems to bring
the home-loving in me to a high intensity.
I love the colors of October.
The natural beautiful of the season.

And then of course I bring the colors into my HOME

A happy family and a secure home, is what
my heart desires.

I really am a homebody at heart.  I love my home, and I love
being there.  Especially when the weather outside
is cold and the days are shorter.
The warmth of my home is where I want to be.

Happy October to you.
I hope your enjoy the coziness of home
and you are surrounded by the love of
family and friends.

October Blessings!

September Roses

Well hello my friends,
It is a beautiful
September morning where I live.
I am so thankful for temps in the 70's
And cool nights.
How about you?
We have had a long hot summer!
So the cool late September weather
is very welcome.
If you recall, I have told you about my little rose bush
I have tenderly cared for.  She was very sad when
I moved to my home.  She had not had water for
heaven only knows how long.
The water sprinklers were not getting to her.
So I carried buckets of water to her for a long
time until the sprinklers were fixed.
I trimmed her back, and said a little prayer for her
to survive.  And guess what she did survive.
She had produced beautiful little roses for me.

When I was walking up to my house the other
day, I noticed her gentle little flowers,
and thought of the enjoyment she has given me
faithfully showing her beautiful colored petals
even during the heat of summer.
Now the season is coming to an end,
And there she was with the
Last of her September Roses,
They looked so beautiful and vibrant that I had to
snip the last of her blooms and make a little bouquet.
She will take her long winters nap, and return in the spring
and again produce beautiful bud and blooms of roses
for me to enjoy. . .again and again she will do that for me.
There are lesson of life in nature.  My little rose bush has taught me
many lessons, she is a survivor.
She overcomes the adversity of the natural world,
and with determination she gives beauty and brightens
her little spot on this earth.
When she was at her lowest, with no way to help herself,
A friend (me) came along and helped her to live.
And in gratitude she has blessed me with beautiful
roses and it makes me happy.

September Roses
"Ashes for beauty."
The picture in the background is my Grandmother.
She is the Grandmother who raised me.
She taught me how to live, and how to love life.
I own so much to my beautiful Grandma Dot.
