December Is Waiting To Enter

December
It is waiting to makes it's entrance.

Ready or not all the hustle and bustle
is knocking on the door.
Am I ready?  Haha! no but I had
better get with it.

I told my daughter, I am just not
going to decorate this year.
She laughed!

She said,
"Mom you say that every year, and guess what?
You always decorate."

So she was really saying,
Stop, complaining and do what you always do. .

Decorate for Christmas. . .
So it all begins. . Come back and
watch the Christmas decorating  of my home.

It Is Good To Be Thankful

It is a common thing
that we express what we are
THANKFUL
for at this time leading to
Thanksgiving.

I believe it is good to express my
Thankfulness
Everyday.
All the Time.

No matter where my journey in life takes us
it is good to express my
Thankfulness.
We all have our highs and our lows
Good times and difficult times.

As my Auntie would say,
"It is just one thing after another."

I have had my share of "lows".
Difficult times, and struggles.

I do believe my good days have
out numbered my difficult days.

It is true. . .
"Count your many blessings
name them one by one,
and it will surprise you
what the Lord has done!"

There is something about
writing and naming my blessings
One by One
that makes me feel more positive
and happy about life.
It seems my blessings increase
One by One.

For me I write in my
Gratitude Journal
Everyday.
I reflect on my day, and I
write the things I am most
Thankful
for on that particular day.

I am always amazed at what
marvelous things I am
Blessed  with.

November Ramblings

It is a beautiful chilly November day
where I live. And I like it!
November is one of my favorite months.

I have many special reasons why I love this month.
My first child Mathew was born in November.
The birth of a child you never forget.
My second grandson Andrew is also a
November baby.  I also have other reason to
Love November.

November is a time for
Families to gather together.
Generations,
Children, Parents, Grandparents
Aunts, Uncles, Cousins.
We all gather as families and friends
to begin the biggest
celebration of all
Christmas!

Thanksgiving
Begins the Christmas Season for me.
But, first I like Thanksgiving,
I don't want to rush it out of the way
I like to savor the season of giving
Thanks.

I believe that everything is centered around being Together.
And that Family is everything.
With Friendship closely linked.

November
Thanksgiving

Family
Together

No matter the circumstances of our life,
we are still part of a family.
This month and every month I give thanks for
the Blessings of Family, Friends, Gathering.
I am thankful for November. . .
It reminds me of the precious gift I have

Every Good Witch Knows. . . .

Oh, yes every good witch knows. . .
Stay with your first instinct!

I began my blog many years ago with the intent of keeping a
visual record of my decorating. . .Thus
Karie's Chic Creations was born.
I have talked about many things besides my
decorating. . .I have made friends along my way.

How could I even begin to think I could
delete this precious blog of mine?
Ugh! What was I thinking?
So pardon the lapse in good judgment
please continue with my ever so unpredictable journey
blogging about my life!

I invite you into my home this Harvest Season.
I don't decorate for Halloween. . .I am past that stage
in my life.. . and besides I don't like things that are
scary or creepy. . .I like cutesy!
I call it Harvest. . .!  Or just plain
October.

Oh, but I do like my cute little witch and her shoes.

I like her shoes, because as we all know
Every good witch knows
it is all in the shoes!

Do come back. . .OK?

Never Ending Just New Beginnings

Hello my friends.
With sadness in my heart I am
deleting Karie's Chic Creations.

Things change in life and it has in
Blog-land. When I started
Karie's Chic Creations over 10 years ago
blogging was much different.
it was different in so many good ways.
I really enjoyed it, and I met some
fantastic bloggers.  I felt like we were
truly friends. I still feel that way with
many. But things have changed for me.
I don't do all the decorating I once did.
I am older and much more settled with what
I have.  And to tell you the truth blogging became
stressful to me.  I felt like I wasn't good enough
my little home wasn't good enough, my pictures were
not photo magazine worthy. I stressed with what I would
post, what would I say.  Why didn't I have the followers?
Why did no one comment? I lost the joy
and the fun in blogging.

So I am saying good bye.
Thank you to all my lovely friends
who stayed with me. Those who loved
my little blog and loved me.

I am switching gears.
Another blog will soon be re-started
Karie's Daley Life.
I will post about life, my life.
My comings and my goings.
My family,
My religion
(The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints)
I will post about growing older.
Friends
My two little pals
Teddy and Cash.
I will post about being a woman
who loves life, loves my role as
a mother to my Children
Grandchildren, Sister and Aunt.
I will post about being a widow,
and enduring joyfully until I am with
my husband again.
I will try to spread sunshine, happiness
and kindness.
I may even show a few of my talents
and hobbies.
So if you would like to visit me
and see what is going on in
Karie's Daley Life
come on over to

Grandma Dot

Hello all,
I am actually sharing a previous picture I have shared before
My precious sweet, Grandma Dot.

Every child should have a Grandma Dot
in their lives.
I truly believe one of the many ills of our society
is that too many families are disconnected from
their extended families.
Grandparents are an important part of family life.
Whether you live close or far away,
You can still be close in your relationship to
children and grandparents.

My Grandma Dot became my mother after my mother died.
I would not be the woman I am today if it had not been for
my Grandma Dot.

I miss my Grandma very much.
Every day I miss her.
I have been blessed to have a
Grandma Dot in my life.

First Day

Hello my friends.
Today I have a few thoughts I would like to share.
It is the first day of school for most of us here in Utah.
We started today. . .I can't even begin to count the
number of "first day of school" I have gone through.
Too many to count.
This is the "first day" of my last year in high school.
With my younger siblings.
Yes, I am the person who cried.
My own first day and my children's first day.
I am still having first days of school.
And No, I don't cry, but oh the anxiety is high!
Just how I am wired.
Today my son posted this picture of me and him.
He is an administrator in the school district in which I work.
His caption was how many first days I have had with school
children, and I am still having first days with them.
I have to say when I saw him coming down the
hallway my heart fluttered
I was happy to see him!
Just checking on his Momma.

I have shed teas each new year with my own children.
They were fine going to school but Mom shed tears.
My heart broke in two when I sent my first born to school
and then when I sent him to college, it about killed me.
Oh, but sending him to a foreign country for
a mission for
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Just about did me in.

But one thing I have found in all the tears of the first day
Is am thankful for first days. . . I am thankful for DAYs
with my loved ones.
And they always, come home to Momma!

I hope your first days are wonderful. . .

A Refuge From The Storms of Life

Hello my friends,
Well, the summer is almost to an end.  Darn!
It has been hot, which it should be. . . it is summer and it is August.
But, OH, this smoke is really causing problems for many of us.
My little valley has been really smokey from the
wild fires that are going on in the Western United States.
Lately this is what it looks like in the mornings.
As the sun is rising. . .
The picture doesn't capture the deep red-ish-orange the sun was.
Nor did it capture the orange sky.
It was beautiful. . .in spite of the smoke and the haze.

With each passing day, week, month or season
It is a good time for me to reflect
on the amazing life I have.
There is goodness in many places.
We live in hard time,
 This is true
The world is in chaos, and turmoil.
This is true.
But there is safety from the storms, and the fires of life.
This is true.
I find refuge in my HOME.

I feel comfort and peace in my Home.
And that is part of the reason
I like to keep my home nice.

I feel it in my everyday details

It is part of my
Heritage.

The small little memories
will brighten my day.

My strong courageous ancestors
Will all give me comfort and refuge from the storms.

The laughter of children, and the
close family tie. .
What a blessing of comfort they give.

My family and I enjoy an abundance of blessings
Not only in temporal blessings,
But also the blessings that come
through knowing
The Savior
 Jesus Christ.

July

Well it is July
and yes, i have been missing in action

Actually I think all the action is going on
and I am missing out

I am here, I am ok and I have only
one excuse for not posting.

I have nothing to post about!
Seriously I just live a regular life.
And my decorating has been staying the same.
So what can i say!
I guess no news is good news.

Hopefully I will get back in the groove and
show you what it is like to just be living a regular life.
Now don't think I am complaining, I am not.
Just saying I don't have much to show or much to say.
Stay tuned. I have a few pictures on my camera and
just a few thoughts running in my mind.
I hope you are all well, and life is good.
See you in a few days.

Hugs to all

Karie

A Little Cottage On The Corner

I love my Home!
And this time of year I really love where I live.

It is just a little Cottage on The Corner!
I call it Home!

I once lived in a big beautiful home on the hill
I loved living there also,
But my life changed and I moved many times.
I eventually landed here!

Nothing spectacular about it. .
But it is the place I call
Home.

My porch is actually a "stoop".
But that is ok,
I still like to keep it pretty
Flowers and my little bench.

Sit a Spell
Yes, come sit a spell and spend some time.
It is just a little place,
but I love it.

The Little Cottage on The Corner
I call
HOME!

Family History And Projects

Well Hello!
My dear blogging friends who are still with me!
Yes, it has been awhile, but you know that is ok.
Sometimes to have to let one thing go so you can
enjoy something else.
Thanks for staying with me. .
I think about my blog all the time
It is just not at the top of my
"to do list".

Lately it has been Family that has been on my list
of "to do".

Not only my children and grandchildren,
but I have been doing Family History.
Oh, what fun it is to find pictures, stories
of my ancestors.
I love it!

 My Throw of Many Colors
I have done a little sewing and crocheting
I just love my Throw (Afghan) of Many Colors.
It was so fun to make. I just took scraps of yarn and
away I went creating free style as I call it.
No pattern . . .just what I felt like doing at the time.

No it is not St. Patrick's Day

But, I have also been sewing.
Here are the pillow cases I made for my
daughter, Emily.  Her Birthday is St. Patrick's Day
so of course Momma makes something
with Shamrocks and the color green.

So there you have it.
I am busy busy.  Now Spring is here I will
be even more busy.  Between my Granddaughter's
Softball games, I have my little postage stamp
back yard to get all ready. .
Thanks goodness for a Grandson who is
willing to help me.
Yeah for Grandkids!!!

I hope you are enjoying the lovely weather
Spring.
