My Forgotten Valentine

To My Forgotten Valentine
I love you!

I am going to share something
I rarely share with anyone.

There is someone I have loved very much
He is the "other" love of my life. . .
JIM

Jim and I married later in life

We had a wonderful life together.
Together is all I wanted
Jim always told me he had searched for me his whole life. .
I was all he needed.
Life is full of changes. . .  some times very hard changes.
And with love can come a broken heart.
I will always love Jim
My Jim passed away October 2010
Someday, we will find each other again.

Decorating Fun

Can I just say I am having FUN!
I am having Decorating Fun,
Now, some people may not think that is too much fun
But, I do. . . .
I have a new piece of furniture and I am having fun decorating it.
 My Bountiful Buffet
Is so much fun to decorate. .
I have my Valentine decoration out right now
And they look so cute on the BB.
My milk-glass lamp with the red & white check shade
(A DI thrift store find)
And I love my little February Precious Moment.
Of course the milk-glass hen looks cute in the vignette
(Another DI find)
I found this adorable scrapbook paper and had to have it.
If you don't know I love the Eiffel Tower!
I framed the paper and it fits perfect with the
 Valentine Vignette.

Because I was decorating I decided I needed to do some
Spring cleaning. . . yes, spring will come!
So today I washed walls and windows
And re-arranged furniture.
My dining area is small, but it is cozy and inviting and it is
 HOME for me.
I can see there are some painting projects ahead for me.
I have some other things I want to add paint to.
And I think I am going to use the yummy color
Of the Buffet again.
Be sure to come back again.

Bountiful Drexel Buffet

It Is Finished!
The Bountiful Drexel Buffet
Is ready to be revealed.

I am so pleased with it
It is truly a beautiful piece of furniture!
The largest piece I have ever done.
I was so worried I might "ruin" it. . .
At first I didn't know what color to paint it.
I studied it for a week and finally came upon this beautiful color
My Aunt kept telling me to let the piece speak to me. . . .
It would tell me what color to paint it and what to do with it. . .

The Bountiful Drexel did speak to me. .
It told me what I should do for it.
As you can see I kept the original hardware
It just had to be. . . .
After all the toil of painting, I "antiqued" it.
I used Minwax Provincial Stain
I did try to glaze it, but it just wasn't the right color
So I went back to the way I use to do furniture
I didn't "shabby" the piece. . .  it just wasn't the thing to do
This is how it looked when I bought it, , ,
Beautiful lines, and gorgeous wood.
Truly a wood masterpiece.
Now it is even more gorgeous. . .
It has transformed to a beautiful
Bountiful Buffet Heirloom!
I will be showing it in the following linky parties:
Thank you for visiting these wonderful blogs

Get Away To The Thrift Store

I haven't been to the thrift store
For more than a week. .
I have had a bad cold and the weather
Here in Utah has been COLD!
I know you poor bloggers in the Mid-West, East and South
Have really had some huge snow storms. . .
Utah is usually that way..
But, right now we are gray and cold.
So today I needed a get away
Not too far
Just get out of the house.
I headed to DI (Deseret Industries) and found some treasures.

Love these Ruby Red glass cups. . .
They aren't stamped, so I don't know who made them.
Doesn't matter, I like 'em
 Now, I don't know silver,
But!
I think this just might be Silver
I should have taken a before picture. . . it looked bad!
Tarnished. .
But, with a little tarnish remover and elbow-grease
It turned out very pretty. . .
 Also, a silver candle-stick
It was in the same condition and with a little work
Looks good . .
I am a push over for ceramic fruit. . .
Won't these look cute in a kitchen vignette?
I spent a total of $5.00 for these treasures. . . .
I am linking my thrift store finds to
Linda at A LA CARTE/Junkin Finds Friday
After the thrift store I went to Home Depot
Commented on my buffet, and she suggested
I put a glaze on it. . .
And Lynn at Cottage and Creek agreed with Marty.
So that is what I did. .
I worked the rest of the day on the buffet
It will soon be ready to reveal. . .
Can't wait to show you. Be sure to come back.

Project Is Taking Longer

My project is taking longer than expected.
I had hoped I would have it done days ago,
But, I ran into problems. . .
I have a real bad cold and haven't felt like working on it.
AND
I just about ruined it!
Oh, yes! Today I have been in tears. . .
All my hard labor was just about ruined.
Remember my buffet I got a few weeks ago?

It has been sitting in my little dining area
all this time. . .
And ya, know how when you paint the whole house
is a mess? (Anyway it is for me!)
Well, I have sanded, (yes, in my house) and primed
Finally painted, 3 coats of paint
Martha Stewart
Faded Ink
But, it just didn't look right to me. .
I wanted to put that Mocha glaze everyone is talking about, on it
But, my kids said, NO! Don't do that!
It just needed something. . .  it looked to blahaaaaaa!
So I thought, well maybe if I "shabby" it. . .
Oh, good grief, that didn't work!
So I had to paint again. . . .
Then I came up with this idea of painting the decorative detail. . .
That would be just fine, if you have a real steady hand. . . .NOT ME!
So.....after all that detail work, I painted over it!
Well, this is how it is as of right now. . . . just the doors
 Detail painted a creamy white. . .
I may just move it into its place and study it for a few days
Before I do anything else to it.
It still needs the poly-coat on it. . . .
And I may not listen to my kids and still Mocha it.
What do you think?
I wish Shelly at The Frosted Gardner would give me her opinion.
Or Any of you great creators in bloggerville.
You guys paint furniture all the time.
HELP me out here!

Typography Article of Faith 13

The theme this year for the
Young Women in
The LDS Church (Mormon's) is
The 13th Article of Faith
I decided to make a Word Art
Using the key words in the Article of Faith

The Young Women I teach each Sunday
Are between the ages of 16 and 18
 They are called
The Laurels
What a sweet group of young women.
They are truly Daughters of God
And are trying to learn of Him and His Son
Jesus Christ
As I display this each week in our class
I hope and pray the
Young Women will want to live the
13th Article of Faith

This is the Article of Faith in it's entirety

"We Believe  in being honest, true, chaste,
benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men;
indeed, we may say that we follow
 the admonition of Paul
We believe all things, we hope all things, we have
endured many things, and hope to be able
to endure all things.
If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report
or praiseworthy, we seek after these things."

I am going to link this to
This weeks challenge is Typography projects.
Be sure to check it out
There are some cleaver ideas there.

Decorating With Thrift Store Lamp

It is FEBRUARY
Oh, Hello, Hello, February
I am so happy,
I just might do the Happy Dance.
I know it is still winter, and it is cold and it is snowy,
But,
February always tells me that
March, April, and Lovely May
Are on the horizon. . . .

Do you remember a couple of days ago
I found two milk glass lamps?
(I know you don't remember)
So I will refresh you memory. . .
I found these milk-glass lamps for $1.50 at DI
I just didn't know where I was going to put them. . .
But, I always need lamps (ya, I do)
I don't like ceiling lights
I remembered I had this cute
Red and White lamp shade I found at DI
A few months past. . .
 Perfect fit!
And a perfect addition to my
 February Red Decorations
 Another Thrifty Vignette
On my beautiful sideboard
A few things I already have and
With the lamp added. . . . . Bright and Cheery!
It always amazes me what I can come up with
Using my Thrifty Finds. . . .
I will enjoy this for a few weeks
And change the lamp shade and enjoy something new
Happy Decorating!
Oh, and Welcome
February
I will be linking to these fabulous blogs
