Lamp Re-do and Thrifty Treasures

Sometimes
I wonder if
My Thrifty Treasures
are
really
just
JUNK!Honestly WHY
am I so obcessed in finding
this Crap?
I really am a tidy person
I don't like junk
But I do like "things"
(I am not making sense !)
So I will just go on with what I have found lately
at my favorite thrift store, DI
(the only one we have in my small town)
These glass pieces grabbed my attention.
I have never seen diamond cut glass
in black.
I grabbed all 5 pieces, (.50 a piece)
As I strolled around the store I thought
"you don't need all 5 pieces, just get 1"
So I was going to return 4 of them to the shelf
BUT
A lady stopped me and ask if I knew who
made this glass. . . . .
Huh? ? ?
Aaaaaa, NO!
Well, she didn't know either, but she has a book
with glass pieces in it and these are in the book
and they cost a lot more than .50
So
I decided to keep all 5 pieces!
They are unique!
I needed a lamp in my Craft (crap) Room
Came across this red & white lamp shade and
Loved It!
(only $1)
So I put the ugly peachy $1 lamp. . .
I like the swirly design on the lamp
With the lamp shade
And
with a little spray paint. . . .
This is what I got!

Just Love It!
It looks real cute in the "craft" room.
It cost me $2
(I already had the spray paint)

Always amazes me what a little paint can do. . . . .
And really thrity things are
fun to re-create. . . . .

Cloche'

Cloche'
Isn't that the neatest sounding word?
Cloche'Most of mine are actually
cheese domes!
With plates Gorilla Glued onto
a candle holder and spray painted.
Don't tell anyone though
You really can't tell. . . . . . . . . . .
Can you?
I got my idea from House of Hepworth
I had never thought of using a cheese dome
until I saw hers.
She also showed me that you can spray paint ceramic
Ya, you can!
Check her out she has a great blog
House of Hepworth
My roosters are also spray painted.
I tell ya, you can spray paint anything, but water.

I actually think this one is a Real Cloche'

You can put a cloche' over anything.I find my cloche's (cheese domes) at the thrift store
I don't pay more than $1.50 for them
But they sure make cute decorations.
I have several more,
I just need to decide what color
I want the bases.
They also make cute cake stands with the dome.
Just cleaver!
Say the word. . . . . . Cloche'
In general I don't like August
But
aren't the flowers beautiful?
The Zinna's are georgous right now.

Another Day At Softball Field

I am off to another
Softball Game
Love my little Darlin's
But. . .
No, there are no "BUTS"
They grow up too fast. . .
And one day there will be no softball games
with little girls. . .
We will move on to something else.
See you tomorrow!

Thrifty Treasures

It really is true what they say
One Man's Junk Is Another Man's Treasure
I have been finding TREASURES!
I like to go to DI (Deseret Industries)
The last couple of weeks I have really found some treasures!
I didn't pay over $1
Some of the items were only .50
Can you believe it?
These are just a few of my finds. . . .
I love the little "depression glass" watchamacallit. . . .
And the "cut glass" and the dainty wine glass!

Look at this Milk Glass.
It is BEAUTIFUL!
I collect Milk Glass . .
(Martha got me started on that)
I have collected for many years, some day I will do a post
on my Milk Glass collection.

My heart pounded when I saw some of these pieces. . .

Hoping no one else saw them. . . . .I was the lucky one

to come across these beautiful pieces.

Aren't the fruit salt and pepper shakers cute?

I just love them in the little dish I found.

The brown dish is "Cranival Glass".

It has the prettiest lattice work on the sides of the dish.

$1 Ya, I said $1

Oh, it is true someone's junk

was my treasure!

I think I am a "junker"!

I think my kids are afraid I am!!!!!!!!

Ruffled Table Runner

It has been a hot summer weekend
and I had lots to do, but I was able
to squeeze in something I have wanted to make
for a long, long time.
A RUFFLED TABLE RUNNER
I have seen a lot of them out in Bloggerville
They are so dang cute! I just had to make one for my
oak dining table
It looks so pretty on my table
Kind of "late" Summer colors
that can carry me over to Fall
I first saw it at Tatertots & Jello.
That Jen is so creative.
(you can get her tutorial like I did)
I seem to like everything she does.
so what do I do?
I copy!
But with my own variations
and my way of doing it.

My ruffles are 4" wide by about 36"long
I used my pinking shears to cut them
I like more of a finished edge (no frays)
They are sewn about an inch apart.
Between the front and back is just a thin quilt batting.

I sewed the ruffles on the front

then I put the back facing the front
and sewed three edges
turned it right side out
and sewed the open end.
(like you are making a pillow)
It was much easier than I thought it would be
Just takes some time.
I love it!
I really like the great ideas we get from other
crafters and bloggers.
Thanks to everyone for sharing your ideas.
Isn't it fun!
Now I am off to see what I can
create next!

Living Water

Jesus Christ
Living Water. . . . Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again.
But whosoever drinketh of the water
that I shall give him
shall never thirst. . . . . . .
it shall be a well of water unto him
springing up into everlasting life.
(John 4:13-14)
