#GiveThanks Grandmas

 Day three of  #GiveThanks
Third day for me to share my thanks
on my Blog and Facebook.

I don't know what I would have done without my
Grandmas, especially my Grandma Dot.
She raised me after the death of my mother
when I was a little girl.

And my Granny was a stable and loving Grandma.

I was loved, I was well taken care of.
I had stability in my life.
I was taught values, Faith in God.
Because my Grandma's were such nobel women
I was able to build my life on
a Firm Foundation.

#GiveThanks#

 #GiveThanks#

Something so simple as giving Thanks.
can heal the wounds of a troubled soul.
And can bring Peace to a decaying and chaotic world.

Gratitude. Thankfulness. Thanks.
" When thou riseth in the morning let thy
heart be full of thanks unto God."
           Alma 37:37

"Ye, must give thanks unto God."
      D&C 46:32

There is so much to be thankful for.
One of the things I am very Thankful for is

Friendships

I have been blessed to be surrounded with
good people, I call friends.
They enrich my life in many ways.

Many have been with me for a long time,

Some a life time and beyond.

I am thankful today and every day for
Friends!

The blessing of blogging is the wonderful
Friendships I have made.
I may never see them in person, but
none the less they are my
Friends

Halloween Fun Decorations

 Hello Friends,

Well, I hope you are holding up ok
during these uncertain times.

It is nice to take my mind off of things
and add a little fun to my home.
Now mind you I do not like "scarey"
Only fun and cute Halloween is allowed in my house.

Only a cute little Black Cat could can be in my living room.
This cutie is over 30 years old.
He made my children happy, so very long ago.

Well, there had to be a "cute" fashionable
Witches Hat.
This is new to the collection of decorations.
Like I needed anymore!
Hey, what is a crafter to do?
I think the Witch's new Hat is cute as could be!

The center of the dining table. . .
I think this time of year makes my home
feel cozy and comfy.
The colors of the season are so beautiful.
The days have finally cooled down.
I actually had to turn my furnace on this morning.
The sun is setting earlier, and night time falls.
I am in my jammies by 6:00 pm
Snuggled in with the little fur babies watching
a little t.v. or reading.

Please stay safe.
Even amid trials and illness, and uncertain times
there is still so much to be thankful for.
There is goodness, kindness, and beauty.

Patio Sitter ~ Fall Transition

 Hello, my friends
I sure hope everyone is doing well.
I pray your life is full of blessings.
Isn't it amazing how sometimes we are unable
for whatever reasons, to see how very blessed
we really are.  I think many times we overlook, or take
for granted the beautiful life we have and
how abundantly we are blessed.

I have been thinking about it a lot.
Even in the midst of loss, turmoil, uncertainty
we can pause to give thanks
to the Giver of all gifts.

My patio has been a blessing to me.
The summer has been hot but in the evening
after the sun was setting I could go out and sit.
I could see the night sky.  I love watching the stars
and gazing at the moon. Many early
mornings I would like to sit and listen
to the morning choir. birds singing.

I re-painted this table I have had forever.
I wanted something more "farmhouse" or "county" as
I call it.  Now the weather is cooler as we transition into
Fall/Autumn.  I am enjoying my patio even more.

Even though my brown water can has faux sunflowers
I still like seeing the faux flowers.
I made the arrangement to give a pretty touch
of color and fall flowers. Live sunflowers just don't
last long in an arrangement like this.

Besides I like my Faux!

The little green table I also repainted.
The only difference I did not antique.
I just painted the green.  And I don't
remember the name of the color.
This little table I bought many years ago
I remember I paid $5.00 for it.
It has been a handy little table.
I just love it!

My poor flowers really took a beating with the summer heat.
I lost several flowers in the patio pots.
Between being so extremely hot I was laid up with my
damaged leg from my fall in early June.
Some of the heat and drought resistant
plants made it.  Now that the weather is cool
and I am able to go out and water
a few are coming back.

I will leave you with my chair.  I guess you would call
me a Patio Sitter.  And my chair allows me to sit
and enjoy my beautiful surrounding,
It's really a blessing.

I hope you are having many more good days.

Old Door And Other Thngs

Well,  I don't have a lot to share

with you today, but I did want to show you

the door I helped my daughter-in-law create.

She ask me for ideas on what to do with the

back outside door to their house. Gosh I had

no idea what to do!  So I started looking on

Pinterest,  I searched the ideas for "painted

outside doors". . . Sure enough I found bits

and pieces of doors I liked and I come up with an idea.

But I wasn't sure what Gina would think.

Here is what the old door looked like

Now mind you my son and daughter-in-law live
in a house that is almost 100 years old.
It is adorable!  They have gradually
done things to the home.
Little by Little.
As their budget would allow.

Here is the door after a Saturday of painting
and changing the character of the door

Blake put beadboard in the center and
 trim around the edges.
We painted it red and put walnut stain
over the red paint and wiped it off
to get the vintage look we wanted.

I think it turned out beautiful.

They put a new door handle on it
and a kickplate.

It always thrills me when ideas can be created
and something old can look new
without compromising the integrity of the
time period and the vintage look is achieved.
And very easy on the budget.

Now my friends here is a little info about me.
Some of you may not know that the
first part of June I took a hard fall.
I didn't break anything but I sprained my entire leg.
From my hip to my toes I torn muscle and tendons.
Oh, let me tell you it was and still is a beast.
Needless to say, my summer was not fun.
As a result of my injury I have
permanent irrepairable nerve damage to my leg.
I still walk with a walker.  Most likely will
for a long time.  I am in constant nerve pain.
I am limited in what I can do. But I am
managing. Just doing my best.
I have always been a "doer" and I love
keeping my home tidy, decorated, and clean.
Oh let me tell you I have let so many thing go!
Little by little I am getting stronger.
In a couple of weeks
things will change  and I hope I
will be able to blog more.
Debbie over at Debbie-Dabble wants me
to show  room by room of my apartment.
Well, I will show you my cozy little
apartment as soon as I can finish decorating.

Thank you for visiting
I will have more soon.
Please do come back

I Love A Sunset

Sunset
When the day is ending
All the work and the chores are done.
 Family and Friends have
enjoyed the day.
Playtime  was fun when the
sky was blue.
Sun is setting in the western sky.
It is time to gather at Home
where all is well.
And love abounds.

Sunset on a Summer Eve

I love a Sunset especially how the light is shadowed in
my tiny  Home.  I think it makes a home cozy
and very unique.  The light is different in each room
And no home is the same as another.

Seasons change and so does the position of Earth and Sun.

These pictures are from evening sun setting
on a July Summer Eve.

The sun is coming in from my glass sliding doors.
I didn't do any poof or propping.
I didn't want to miss the moment.
I just took the pictures with my phone.
I had just been to dinner with my son Mark
and my granddaughter Zada.  I came home
and walked down the hall and checked
on Teddy and Cash. Normally they
greet me at the door. But they were busy snoozing!
In those few moments I returned to the living room,
and there was the beautiful orange-ish
light shining on my walls and furniture.

It was one of those moments when you
STOP.....PAUSE
And
I soak the beautiful sight deep in my soul.

A gift......From the Great Creator....
A gentle reminder there is always
Something Beautiful.

There is an old saying my Grandparents would say,
"A red sunrise in the morning is a Sailors warning
A red sunset at night is a Sailors delight"

There are "signs" in the heavens that will
tell us what may be coming.
A red sunrise ---a storm is coming.
A red sunset ---- good weather is here.

Have a wonderful week.
And enjoy the Sunrise and the Sunset.
Watch the sky!

This Is The Day

Well hello my dear friends.
I hope you are doing well.
Staying safe, healthy and happy.

I can hardly believe we have been 4 months
living with a new "normal."
5 months ago if someone would have
told me this is how life would be
I wouldn't have believed it.

I do believe the Lord has given us this day
and all days.  It is up to each one of us
as to what we do with the day.

I keep myself busy each day.
I find great enjoyment and fulfillment
in doing various hand-work.
Cross stitch is one of my favorites.

I have mentioned before how my
Grandma Dot taught me at a young age
how to fill my lonely days with
good things to keep me busy.
During long summer days, I spent time
crocheting, sewing, embroidering
along with a lot of reading.

Oh I did have plenty of days filled with playing with friends,
swimming just about every day
and riding my bike.

As I grew older my hand-work
became a delightful way to fill my days.

And now in my widowhood I thank God
for every day. . . I know each day is a gift.

I have favorite days.  Do you?
When I was working I didn't like Monday's
I thought the week looked so long.
I lived for the week-end.

Now that I am not working, I still find I
look forward to the week-end,
I like it because my children are off work
and I get to see them, and do things with them.

When I was a young mommy and wife my
favorite day was Sunday.  I loved it because
we were all home.  We went to Church together.
We worshiped God together.
Sunday afternoons I fixed a big
Sunday dinner.

It was a relaxing day.
We observed the Sabbath as a family.
Together,
After my husband died, I struggled with Sunday's.
It seemed Sunday was the most lonely
forlorn day there was.

Now, I am thankful for everyday.
It is true some days are lonely,
some days are busy, some days go by fast.
Some days are happy, some days are sad.
I have come to realize each day is a gift.
The Lord is mindful of our days.
And I try to rejoice with each new day.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

A Little Touch of Red White & Blue American Style

Hello my dear friends!
It is so good to have a new post to
stay in touch with you.
As most of you know I had a bad fall
a few weeks ago and I injured my leg.
Healing seems very slow to me,
but I know each day the healing process
is in action.  Little by little the miraculous ability
for my body to heal is in action.
Healing is amazing!

My little Cash stays close by me.  Both of my little
fur babies have stayed close by.  They know there is
something that is not right.  It is funny how they know
and how they show their worry and concern.
I don't know what I would do without them.

So, things have come to a small stand still
around here at Apt. 157.
I am a decorator!  I love decorating my home,
I love surrounding myself with color and
happiness.  But. . . . Right now not so much
is being changed and decorated.

One of my favorite holidays to decorate for is
The 4th of July.
I love this tradition filled holiday.
Being with my family. . . watching the hometown parade
Picnics/Barbeques. . . Fireworks. . . Rodeo. .
Concerts in the park.

Well....This year will be different

I can tell you this, me and my family will do our
own celebrating.  We love our country,
The Great United States of America!

Yes the America I love!
God shed His Light on Thee.

The 4th of July is a couple of weeks away.
There is a possibility I will feel
strong enough to add a few more
Red White and Blue.

I just take a day at a time.

I hope your Summer is going well.

Sitting ~ Just Sitting ~ Patio Sitting

Hello my friends!
It is good to be back to blogging.
I took a little break.
Nothing dramatic, just needed a break
from social media.
Actually, I needed a break from life
in general.  But somehow
that rarely happens,

The clock keeps ticking, the days weeks
months and soon years keep on going.
Just a short break is all I needed.

In this time of Covid-19, Protests, Unsettled lives
and all manner of unbelievable things that are happening
It is good to take a break, deep breath,
look up. . . and let silence fill your mind.

It is good and refreshing to be outside and
Just Sit!
Ya that is what I said, Just Sit!

Since I moved to my Apt. 157
I don't have a yard, not even a tiny yard.
I have a Patio. . . and I love it.

I like nothing more than to go outside
and sit on my patio.

I come from a long line of Sitters.
Porch Sitters, Yard Sitters
Outdoor Sitters, etc.
But since I don't have a Porch or a Yard
I am what I call a Patio Sitter.

I like sitting outside on my patio
and just listen....

I like the fresh air, the sounds of my little
spot of earth.  I like the sound of children's laughter
The voices of my neighbors and friends.
I have the rail road tracks close by and I
like the sound of the trains. The sounds of nature
soothes my soul. The sound of silence. . ..
allows my mind to wander. . . to ponder
or just to let peace fill my mind.

Some of my fondest childhood memories are
sitting under my great-grandpa Pickering's
big shade tree.  Family would gather under
that tree and just sit and visit.
Sometimes it would just be me and my great-grandpa,
and sometimes it would just be me,
Yip, I am a sitter, I am a Patio Sitter
I hope I can always enjoy
just sitting outside enjoying my
little spot of this beautiful earth.
