Getting Ready For July

Well Hello!  Glad to have you stop by.

I am doing a little bit of this and that. . 

Trying to get things ready for 

July

Oh, it will be here before we know it.

I have so much going on in the next few weeks

I thought I would putter around while doing all the

other chores around my house, and do some

July 4th decorating. . Getting ready to celebrate.

I did a little more on the front porch.

Nothing fantastic. . .just a change to my 

patriotic mason jars.

Red. . White. . and. . .Blue

Right now they have faux flowers in them, but

as we get closer to America's Celebration

real flowers will go in the jars.

I still have to put my America Banner up.

An unsteady woman on a ladder is not good.

I will have to wait for one of the grand-kids to do that for me.

The coffee table in the living room has the patriotic look also.

Oh, I love to celebrate holidays, and I love to decorate.

But I must say, this year I am not doing very much.

Just a few things. . . just to put a smile on my face.

A little decorating on the antique side table.

Do you notice I added a new decoration for this year.

The American  counted cross-stitch sampler.

I am so happy with how it turned out.

I really enjoy doing embroidery work.

I think it adds a  touch of "cozy home feeling." And I love the words.

A reminder of how great our nation is. . 

And Under God she will always be.

I hope your summer is going well.

I spent a few days in Southern Utah this past weekend.

Oh, it was hot! 107 degrees!

I do not do well in the heat. . . not at all.

So the 97 I am feeling today is still hot, but not

like 107. . .One good thing about Utah is we do not have 

the humidity that other places in the country have.

Summer Porch 2015

Hello! It is good to be posting today.

I have accomplished a few things around the house.

In between working on my family reunion,

I managed to get my porch ready for 

Summer!

Of course I will add more things as it get closer to July 4th.

But, Today is Flag Day.

I haven't yet drilled the holes for the flag brackets.

My jar full of flags will have to do.

I like decorating my front porch.

I didn't realize how much people noticed until

several people have said how much they enjoyed 

seeing what I decorate with on the porch.

Compliments are always a good incentive to keep

doing it.  Besides it gives me happy feelings

when I have an inviting and colorful porch.

My porch is tiny.  I wish I had the big porches

I have had in 3 previous homes.

Actually, there are a lot of things I miss from my

previous homes.  I like my condo,

and I have it decorated the way I like,

but for some reason, I am feeling "lost".

I will be ok, I hope the homesick, lost feeling soon 

leaves me. . I know. . .it is hard to understand.

But when you have had so many changes in your life

like I have, there is good reason to feel lost and alone.

Sorry, I think I am feeling sorry for myself.

Here is something that has helped cheer me

I am working on my Family Reunion.

I made this invitation with the help of Pic Monkey.

I am rather happy with it.

I just love the programs out there in internet-land.

They make me look like I am talented. . .

I just can't believe the response I have had for this reunion.

So many want to know where they came from.

Who their ancestors are.

And they want pictures and stories.

I hope it goes as well, as I hope.

I hope you are enjoying your summer thus far.

Sun Bonnet Sue

Hello Dear Friends,
Where oh, where is the time going?
It is JUNE!
I don't know where May went to.
She slipped away before I realized it was time.

I just love Sun Bonnet Sue

I have had these kitchen towels for quite sometime.

They were ready to be stitched.

I found the towels at JoAnn's. 

 I love the red trim on the edges.

Perfect for some Red Work.

These are the Homemaking Chores we do each week.

Wash Day.  

Remember when we would hand our laundry out on the 

clothes lines.  I love to dry my laundry on clothes lines.

I don't have lines where I live now.  

But my home on Upland had clothes lines. 

 I loved the smell and the feel of bed sheets, and towels

and even my clothes that have been dried outdoors.

Cleaning Day.

The day when we give the house a good cleaning.

Vacuum, dust, mop floors, clean windows.  Make sure to have

Clean sheets on the beds.  And bathrooms have to be spotless.

I like cleaning day.  

I believe it is a great honor to keep my home and my

surroundings in clean order.  

I think at some point in our society many people

did not learn to take care of their homes.  It saddens me

to see cluttered, messy homes.  

And yards that are not well tended.

I am thankful I was taught to take care of my home.  

Homemaking is an Art

Market Day.

The day I do my grocery shopping.

I try to do my errands around town on the same day I

grocery shop. 

Sunday

My very favorite day of the week.

A day to rest from our labors.

I love to worship God, and to sing the church hymns.

Studying my scriptures, and learning of my Savior is such

a reverent sacred time for me.

Prayers, partaking of the Sacrament, all of these things 

make me happy on Sunday.

Isn't Sun Bonnet Sue a sweet little lady.

She has always been one of my favorites.

I usually just use these towels for decoration.

I enjoy doing embroidery work.  

And a lot of work goes into

making these beautiful towels.

Now I am doing a counted cross stitch. . 

I can't wait to show it to you.
