Ironing Day

I love to

Iron!

Really I do. . .

I learned to iron at a very young age. . .

Back when we didn't have starch in a spray can

Nor did we have spray bottles full of water. .

Or nice irons that produced steam

Back when I was young. . . we dampened our

washed cloths with a "sprinkling bottle"

(I guess that is what they were called)

Then we would "roll" the clothes and put them in a bag.

We always washed on Monday's and when I married

I kept that day as Wash Day. . So

 Tuesday is Ironing Day!

Today that is what I did. . .Iron

I ironed my clothes and then I ironed some

Pillow Cases. . .

I will stack these gently on the linen shelf

They will be nice and crisp when I put them on my bed

Just a little life pleasure, fresh crisp ironed pillow cases.

This pillow case I found at the DI. . $1.

 (have you seen the outrageous cost of bedding at department stores?)

I am so happy when I find something at the discount stores

And even better at DI

 I love the beautiful detail and embroidery work. .

I found these lovely pillow cases at a yard sale for $2.

 No, I don't iron sheets. . . Although I use to. .

But now, I don't iron them . . .oh, unless they are wrinkled.

I love a beautifully made bed.

And I am a little "different" with the sheets I have on my bed.

I like a plain colored sheet on the bottom and

A printed sheet on the top. . .

(I know, it is just a little quirk I have!)

 Most printed sheets come in a package with the bottom and the top

So, I buy a plain bottom and then I look in DI for a

Nice printed top sheet. . .Found this one the other day. .$1.

I just have this last table cloth to iron and then I am done.

I can't wait to show you this one. . .I got it at a yard sale.

Oh, And it is Vintage!

I love this cute little Rooster  Excuse me that is a Hen!

I found him her at a yard sale. .

And I just had to have her. . .

I think she is about early 1950

Such cuteness with my Grandma's sewing machine drawer. .

(notice there are even little hens in the fabric tablecloth)

 I have had so much fun adding to the vignette. .

 A small Rooster and Hen are actually S/P Shakers.

 The Rooster plate is part of a set that hangs on my drop-down

Love Affair of Textiles

Oh, it may sound like a strange "Love Affair",

But it is true I love Textiles. . .

I come from a long line of textile lovers. .

I remember as a child going in Fabric Stores

And row after row of fabric on bolts. .

My Mom loved textiles

My Grandmother's loved textiles..

My Great-Grandmother also. .

And I know it goes way beyond them. .

My Aunts and Cousins are textile lovers. .

So you see I come by it naturally.

"Something in the hands that have the desire to create".

Here is just a small sampling of my own textile loves

That I have lovingly created. .

I have so much more I want to show you. .

You have only seen a portion of my crocheting and my textiles

I am in love with Vintage Textiles. .

My cedar chest is full of them. .  and

I must get them out and enjoy the look, the feel, the touch.

The colors and the texture . . .

Hankies, doilies, tablecloths, pillow cases. .quilts

Anything that is Textiles and is Vintage.

I search second hand stores, and antique shoppes. .

But I also love "new fresh fabric. .

(I have a large stash)

 I want to pick a flower from all the colors displayed. . .

 But, today I chose Yellow. .

 Just cheery and bright. . .Yellow flowers seem to say

"Hello!". . . "Good Morning. . ."

"Hope you are having a wonderful Day"

 It doesn't take many flowers to cheer me up. .

A Helping Hand

It is nice to give a

Helping Hand!

The past few days I have been

Helping a couple of my children. .

(Adult Children need our help too)

My sweet oldest son brought home some apricots

 And needed Mom's help

Making Apricot Jam

Mom is always willing to help!

Sweet little daughter

Decided she wanted to re-do her kitchen

Typical "honey oak" cabinets. . .

She was tired of them and the wall-paper

Soooo. . . .Mom suggested

Red Cupboards and Yellow Walls

Well, My sweet little daughter isn't like her Mom

She isn't as bold with color. .

But. . . .

This is where we are right now. .

Walls are painted Yellow

And Cupboards are painted Red!

With Provincial Antiquing. . .

And Beadboard added to the snack bar and cupboard ends.

Re-doing a kitchen is a MESS!

Bless her heart and her husbands and her sons.

But, it is going to be beautiful!

Can't wait to show you the results.

So between Apricot Jam, Re-doing a kitchen

Painting chairs, and frames, and crocheting. .

Church responsibilities, Girls Camp

Not to forget Granddaughters softball games. .

It has been a very busy summer.

I love keeping my hands busy

And I love lending a helping hand!

It really doesn't take much

To make things a little

Prettier, Cheerful

And Inviting. . .

 My Front Door is very simple and plain

But, with a little Welcome sign

 And a basket full of flowers. . .

 It looks much better,

Cheerful, and Welcoming

Only 50 cents.

 I already had the flowers and the moss

So it basicly cost me nothing.

Something new, and Pretty. . .

It really doesn't take much!
