Part 2 ~ Projects Completed This Summer

I really did do a lot this summer.

Some may say it doesn't sound like fun. 

But it was fun to me.

I love creating and making my home beautiful.

Now, I start back to work.

I am so thankful my health has been ok, so that

I can still do the things I love to do.

Here are a few more things I was able to

do this summer and actually complete.

These were fun little projects.  

My sweet little chair

It was pitiful before I painted it blue.

And it has a sweet little story behind it.

And my beautiful "Beth".

The black buffet I transformed with 

chalk paint and walnut stain.

I had a lot of fun decorating her before but now. . .

She is a delight and looks so beautiful in my living room.

She is the project I am the most proud of.

It has been a very productive summer.

I am having a hard time going back to work.

Summer Projects Completed

Hello and Welcome!

I am so happy you stopped by my blog.

I was thinking about the last couple of months

and how fast the time has gone.

WOW! It is mid-August, and I am wondering

where July went!

Seriously, the days and months are flying by too fast.

School begins next week.

And my summer free time is gone.

My blog posts won't be as often.

And it makes me sad,

I have loved blogging more often and showing

you what is happening in my little home.

Well today I thought I would show my
Outside Completed Projects

I have done since June.

So sit tight.... Ok

First I think my Tiny Yellow Shed and my 

Tiny backyard was the biggest and most fun of all.

It was a lot of work, but oh how I have enjoyed my tiny yard.

I found this ugly table, curbside.

I could see potential. . .

I ask if I could have it.

The kind person said, "take it. It is yours."

Perfect for my patio!

Amazing what a little TLC and Paint does.

July 4th, is one of my favorite celebrations.

My patio and back yard was all decked out.

With help from my young friends

Elana and Katelyn, my patio was

looking good with the

Red White & Blue.

My front was looking good also.

I have loved my front door wreath.

The of course the front door has changed

and will change again next month.

An old wreath, refreshed and made pretty.

Makes me smile!

Well, that is the outside of my home 

I worked on this summer.

There of course a lot more work was done.

Tending to the flowers and plants

is a steady job when the temperatures rise.

But I have spent a lot of time just relaxing

and enjoying the beauty of my 

Tiny Yard.

Adding A Little Change On The Porch

Hello my Friends,

How is your August going?

My "free time" is about to change.

I will be going back to work in the school.

Yip, school will soon we starting.

Even though it is part-time (4 hours a day).

It really cuts into my day.

Even though there are still many days of

the hot summer. . . 

It ends. . . once I go back to work.

Summer vacation for me is over.

So I am wanting a little change in my home, 

both inside and out.

So I changed to a late summer wreath on the front door.

I hope I am not rushing Fall, but I like

the colors of fall.

The golden warm browns, orange, and yellow

are some of my favorite colors.

I added a small black and white

checkered bow. . . And I am loving it.

I am loving the change on the porch,

and I have actually started a few changes in my house.

I hope all is well for you.

Just like the changes in nature

our lives are filled with changes.

Right now I am happy to be changing

my porch instead of having to change my entire life.

Little Blue Chair

Well HELLO,

And a beautiful day

Hello to you.

I hope today is going well for you and your loved ones.

Are you settled yet, into August?

I don't think I ever settle into this month.

This is the month, I am trying to tie the

ends of summer because I start back to work.

I am a part-time Secretary at a

Elementary School here in town.

So in a previous post I mentioned I had a project fail.

Well, this little chair is the culprit.

But first a story about the little chair.

My great-Aunt found it for me,

My Grandma,  had a cute little chair like this one.

Many, many years ago I found my Grandma's chair in an old shed

at my Great grandparents place.

I ask Grandma if I could have it and she said "yes".

Well!

Before I could take it home with me

mt great Uncle decided to clean out the shed and

haul all the old furniture to the trash. . .

Oh No!

Not only was the little chair of my Grandma's in there.

There were many, many old antique 

Family Heirlooms.

I was heartsick, as many other family members were.

Fast forward to a few years ago. . .

My sweet great- Auntie remembered my 

Grandma's chair and she remembered how much

I wanted it.

She found a similar little chair at a thrift store.

It was in rough condition, but with some

tender loving care, and some pretty blue paint

I had a little blue chair like Grandma's

No, it is not my Grandma's chair, it is long gone.

But, the replacement holds it's own memories.

When my Granddaughter's were little they would pull this chair
up to the big round coffee table I have.

They spent hours coloring, playing games, and even having 

tea parties while sitting on this chair at my coffee table.

Well, as with all things, the little chair needed a "re-do".
That's when I took paint brush in hand
and gave her a couple of coats of

Behr Chalk Paint. Color is Durango Blue.

Then I used dark brown Behr Wax to give her the antique look.

The Granddaughters are all grown up now. (Tears)

But the Little (Blue) Chair will continue

to be useful and will be used.

Just in different ways, and then God-willing there will

be little Great-Granddaughters
and back to the coffee table the little chair will go

I believe furniture is not only needful and useful

But they also hold stories to tell and most of all

They have 

Sweet Memories.

Project In Progress

Well can you believe it is 

August!

A very interesting month.

It is part of Summer, but it is beginning 

to act like Fall.

The days are getting shorter.

Temperatures start to cool down.

We begin school in the mid part of August.

We wind down on vacations,

Football is starting 

And my decorating changes to

Sunflowers and fall-ish colors.

But the interesting thing is. . . I still hold onto

Summer, but I am wishing for Fall.

I am in the middle of another project.

I had no intentions of doing this but I had

a project failure. So that means

I had to do a RE-DO.

I am sure that never happens to you.

I will soon be back

Hopefully with a completed project.

July 24th ~ Pioneer Heritage ~ Celebration

Hello!

I am glad you stopped by.

It's another HOT Summer day!

And also it is a holiday today in Utah.

Every year we Celebrate our

Pioneer Heritage.

July 1847 Brigham Young proclaimed

"This Is The Place"

From that time forward until the 

Transcontinental Railroad was completed in 

May 1869 thousand of members of

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

traveled the treacherous terrain of the Mormon Trail

Crossing 1300 miles of desert plains, 

high rocky mountain passes. Crossing overflowing

streams and rivers. Rainy days and hot sunny days, 

freezing weather, muddy trails. Disease, death, childbirth,

accidents, hardships and heartache.

All this and more.

With Courage and Faith.

Believing in a living God.

Faith In Every Footstep.

They are mine and I am theirs

I am who I am because of them!

I will forever be thankful for my Pioneer Heritage.
